AGRICULTURAL WORKERS’ UNION SCHEDULE.

At the monthly meeting of the Wellington, Wanganui, and Hawke’s Bay Agricultural, Pastoral, and Domestic Workers’ Union, held in Palmerston, the following standard rate of wages, time worked, and holidays were fixed. A certificate will be given to all workers on application to the secretary, to be filled in by a responsible employer, stating if the worker is of first, second, or third-class experience. Married fencer, ploughman, gardener, shepherd, with cottage, firewood, cow: First-class experience, £3 10s; second-class, £3. Married general farm ivorker, with cottage, cow, firewood: £3; £2 10s. Single fencer, ploughman, gardener, shepherd: £3 10s; £3. Married couples, woman cook and laundress, man gardener: £4; £3 10s. Married couples, woman cook-gene-ral, man gardener: £4 ss; £4. Married couples, woman cook for men, man milk and gardener: £4; £3 10s. Married couples, woman cook-laun-dress, man milk and kill: £4. Married couples, woman cook-gene-ral, man milk and rouseabout: £3 10s; £3. Cowman, gardener, lawns, flowers: £3; £2 10s. Cowman, rouseabout: £2 10s; £2. Cowman, rouseabout, over 60: £1 ss; £l. Youth under 19 years: £1 10s; £1 ss. Youth under 17 years: £1 ss; £l. Casual day work: Is 10d per hour. Married couples to be provided with detached bed and sitting-room, with fireplace, and all found. All single workers to be found with boai d and lodging. All time worked over 48 hours in six days to be charged time and a half. Cowmen to work 52 hours in seven days. All full half-holidays to be granted to all. If half-holiday not allowed, one full week’s wages to be paid every three months. Half days paid for extra if not worked three months. Rates for domestic workers were •fixed as follow:

Man cook, £3 10s, £3, £2 10s; woman cook laundress, £2 ss, £2, £1 15s; house parlourmaid, £2, £1 15s, £1 10s; housemaid, £1 15s, £1 10s, £1 ss; pantrymaid, £1 12s 6d, £1 10s, £1 ss; lady help, £1 l° s > £1 5s > £1; girl uncler 17 years, £1 ss, 15s. Overtime to be charged for time worked over 4S hours per week at the rate of time and a half. In lieu ° r allowing one full day’s holiday of 24 hours in each week, it can be anan o e b v mutual agreement for an employer to allow any worker leave of absence on full pay of fourteen days for every period of three months during which the day’s holiday is so suspended, or m the event of the service not continuing for three months, for a period proportionate to the length of service. Employees who work Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Year’s Day, Good Friday, Easter Monday, shall be paid double pay. All car and bus fares to be paid both ways from railway station by employer. Railway fares to be paid by employee.
