BAZAAR AT KIHIKIHI

(Own Correspondent.) w,‘For some months past the Presbyterian Ladies Guild at Kihikihi have been preparing for a bazaar in aid of the new Church and the r efforts were crowned with success last Wednesday when in' spite of counter attractions, there was a splendid attendance and over £ll2 was raised, which will leave only £IOO debt on the new Church. The bazaar was offiicially opened by the Rev. W. Butterworth, the new Moderator of the charge and with him were associated • Mr E. Thompson chairman Of the Town Board and Mr W. T. Brabyn. The Hall had been transformed by the various stalls and decorations and i business was brisk throughout. In, the evening Mr Rust’s orchestra from Otorohanga gave seme beautiful selections and Miss Briggs was recalled for . singing. Many competitions were held and) the results are as follows; , Sponge sandwich, Miss Walker l, ,Miss C- son 2, Miss , | Keith 3. Fruit cake, Mrs'A. Bryant 1. Pikelets, Miss A Palmer 1, Miss Ruby Raine 2. Map drawing, Wiremu Ngahoe (Parawera) 1, lan Selby 2. Bride, Mrs C. McFlinn (Hamilton). Baby doll, Miss Winnie) Gasson. Trousseau, Miss Churchfield. Large cake, Mrs Wilson, small cake, Mrs A. Jones Ladies naildriving, Mrs C. Dyer; <|ents naildriving, Mr H. Kay. -A novelty as far as Kihikihi is concerned was the competition for the bride, the nearest guess to the weight of Mr Brabyn, being the winneir. After keen competition five guessed the exact weight, list. 51b. and in the draw Mis McFlinn, Hamilton, won. Following are the stall holders: Fancy stall, Mesdames Askew, Stewart and Allen; plain sewing, Mesdames Sutherland, Palmer and Richardson; Sunday School, Mrs Selby; sweets stall, Mesdames Eyre, Anderson and H.
