OTOROHANGA NEWS
There will be a special picture show ■at the Town Hall on election night and at intervals progress returns of the Waitomo election will be screened as was done last election.
Shearing is in full swing round about the district and it is expected that the clip will be a good one, though perhaps lighter than last year. The report of Mr J. C. Rolleston’s meeting at the Otorohanga Town Hall is unavoidably held over by want of space and will appear in Tuesday’s issue. Mr Rolleston was accorded a splendid reception, there being some 400 electors present, and a vote of thanks and confidence in him and the Reform Party and its leader, Mr -Coates, was carried with acclamation. As indicative of the necessity of proper supervision of the wiring in buildings for electricity it may be mentioned that when the Town Hall was being done it was found that a place in the ceiling had been scorched owing to the fusing of two wires. This wiring was put up some ten years ago and does not appear to have been done up to present day standard regulations. The funeral of the late Mr C. Cater took place on Friday and was attended by a large number of settlers whose respect the deceased had ever held both as a settler and private individual. The Rev. J. P. Weatherhog officiated at the graveside.
