NEW HEALTH OFFICER

DR F DAWSON APPOINTED TO CHRISTCHURCH.

(By Telegraph. Press Association.) AUCKLAND, Wednesday. To take up the position of assistant medical officer of health at Christchurch, there arrived at Auckland o-d-ay bv the Athenic Lieutenant-Colonel F. Dawson, who has retired from the -English Medical Corps. Dr Dawson was born in Auckland, but in an official capacity has been in and out of England for the last thirty years. He took part in the Boer war and the late European war. In 1923 and part of 1924 he was in West Africa as a sanitary officer and pathologist, doing work in tropical diseases. He commanded military hospitals in England, the last being in Preston, Lancashie. His mother, sister, and brother are in Auckland, his brother being Mr T H. Dawson, solicitor. Dr Dawson is' accompanied by his wife and family.
