AILL PROPOSALS REJECTED. (By Telegraph. Press Association.) HAMILTON, Wednesday. A proposal to borrow £2OOO for the purchase of the old Masonic Hall in Grey Street, Hamilton East, and its conversion into a library and public hall, was submitted to a poll of borough ratepayers yesterday and was lost by 777 votes to 210. A proposal to borrow £2OOO for carrying out additions and alterations to the Frankton Public Library, was also submitted and was lost by 781 votes to 215.

The Maeroa estate ratepayers were invited to vote on a proposal to borrow £28,700 and £15,200 for sewerage and water in the Maeroa West special rating area, and £13,650 for streets and drains over in Maeroa special rating area. The streets and drainage proposal was lost by 162 votes to 25 and the sewerage and water proposal by 130 votes to 39.
