EX-BOXER INJURED

STRUCK ON THE HEAD,

William Rudd, an ex-Australian and New Zealand professional boxer, who has resided at Waihi for some years, has been admitted to the Waihi Hospital suffering from severe injuries to the head. His condition is reported as precarious.

As far as can be ascertained, Rudd became engaged in a dispute at his own house over a recent Court case, resulting in a fight. Later it is alleged he was struck down by another man, who is said to have used a gas-ring, knocking Rudd unconscious. ‘The police are making investigations. Rudd is a widower.
