THE MAKING OF ROADS
TARANAKI'S GOOD WORK,
(By Telegraph. Press Association.) • STRATFORD Wednesday.
A party of representatives of the Wellington city and suburban; local bodies is at present on a visit to Taranaki, to gather information regarding roadmaking as carried out in this province. The hot mix bitumen', used on the road and other main thoroughfares in Wellirigton, while most durable, is too expensive for use on suburban and country roads, and, as the method of laying down Taranaki roads has been both economical and serviceable, the delegation desires all possible information for, the guidance of the Wellington, authorities in their road programme. .The party arrived in Stratford to-day, and interviewed Mr J. W. Spence, the county engineer, with whom they discussed road-mak-ing methods, and.gained a good deal of useful information as to the scheme, in operation here. ' They afterwards left for New'Plymouth; "'"." ' ".'"
