SOUTHERN DISTRICT NOTES. (Resident Representative.) I understand that the block of 2000 acres at Rangitoto, next to "Chindi," has been sold to a purchaser from the south -and that Hie contemplates clearing it of bush without delay. Among the visitors here during the holidays were Mr and Mrs Wade, of Gisborne, the parents of Mr W. P. Wade. During, his visit Mr Wade pur-chased-the corner section at the north east end of Maniapoto Street, on which he contemplates building. The annual Honikiwi picnic was this year held on the banks of the Mokcrurua stream and there was a full attendance of the local residents and their children. A- very pleasant day was spent and in the evening a dance was held, festivities being kept up until early morning.
