NOT ON THE MAP!

EXIT " AUSTRALASIA." The effectiveness of the campaign in Great Britain against the use of the word "Australasian," as including New Zealand, has borne fruit lately. As already announced, the British Australasian has now changed its title to the British Australasian and New Zeaiander, and the Australian Financial Journal has also now incorporated in its title the words, " New Zealand," and it gives considerable space to New Zealand affairs. Usually, now, when reference is made to the Pacific dominions by the newspapers, Australia and New Zealand are mentioned separately. The Higlh; Commissioner brings a specific case under review of a journal applying for an advertisement for a special exhibition numj ber, which had omitted New Zealand I from the map of the British Empire ! on its cover. ■ A letter was sent to this journal by the publicity officer, asking if it was not a strange oversight to bring to the notice of the High Commissioner in the same communication in which application was made for advertisement favours. The journal replied, regretting very much the oversight, and stating that it was undoubtdly unfortunate, as New Zealand promised to become an important fruitproducing and exporting country. !
