CATTLE TICK.
HUMAN BEINGS ATTACKED.
(By Telegraph. Press Association.)
WHANGAREI, FRIDAY.
According to a settler in the Whananaki harbour district, picnickers there have suffered great inconvenience owing to the prevalence of the cattle tick. This parasite attacks human beings, as well as cattle, horses and dogs. The settler declares that the ticks are more in evidence this year than ever before. Near the coast the country, he says, has become so infested that remedial measures are hopeless. General reports from Parua Bay and other places near the sea support the contention that this year the pest is more in evidence than in past years.
