(By Telegraph—Press Association)
DUNEDIN, Wednesday,
The Director of Education has notified Otago University Council that a further grant of £7OOO or £BOOO will be made for the new medical school above the £75,000 approved already. In reply to a query as to whether the committee had agreed to call tenders for both medical and dental schools, the. chairman, Mr T. K. Sidey, said he had sought by telegram to get authority from the Minister of Education to call tenders for the dental school, but had received a reply that the Minister would not return to New Zealand till December 26th, and regretting that no authority could be given until the Minister had seen the dental school documents. "I am bound to say," added Mr Sidey, "that it is • extremely irritating that the Minister should leave the country for. something like two months without leaving anyone in authority in his Department That is the position at present."
It is understood that the architect was in a position to call for tenders for both buildings.
