CHRISTMAS AND NEW YEAR HOLIDAYS.
(To the Editor,
■Sir,—As the Christmas holidays are drawing near, I, in conjunction with other employees, am wondering what decision, if any, has been made with regard to the days for closing daring the Christmas and New Year weeks. There should be no hardship, with the exception of bakers and butchers, and I think it would be a graceful act on the part of the employers if they could agree to make the Saturday night >he late night, and close Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of each week, or at least in Christmas week. I do not see that there would be any loss of trade therehy, provided the public were notified in good time, and it would enable the various employers and their staffs to have a decent spell. Hoping those in authority will take the hint, I am, etc.
EMPLOYEE. (Your suggestion is a little late, for we understand the Business Man's Comiiiittpe.has already decided upon the holidays to-'oe observed by local shoos during the coming festiv? season.—Ed., Waipa Post.)
