BOROUGH WORKS.
REPORT OP FOREMAN. Mr J. Archer reported as follows to last nieht's meeting of the local Borough Council: — Since last meeting the following works have heen attended to: Usual cleaning un of the main streets and cesspits. Gorse has heen gruhbed up on the Domain and the Council reserve at the corner of Mahoe Street and Tawhiao Street. Holes at corner of Mandeno Street and Carlton Street have heen filled, and the water diverted from the centre of road to water tables. The metal ordered from Te Aroha Borouerh Council quarry has arrived, and 15 cubic yard's were placed in the holes in Kihikihi road between Brady Street and Mandeno Street, also some on the top of the hill by Matariki. and 15 cubic yards was stacked in a heap on the roadside to continue the repairs on towards the borough boundary. The rest was carted to the yard for stock. The water pipes have arrived, and have been placed in the streets that require them. Through a misunderstanding some were carted on to the Hairini road, but these I will re-cart, back to where wanted with our own team. They have arrived in good .condition. It will be necessary to order 30 hydrants and boxes,, also 5 dozen half inch angle taps,; 5 . dozen half inch running joints, and 2 dozen three-quarter inch running joints. The boat with the specials on does, not arrive until the end of tbe month in "Wellington, and it may be some time before they arrive }n : Te Awamutu. All' tbe water mains have been well flushed. The cost of making the footpath safe on the Farmers' Auctioneering Co.'s section in Alexandra Street "will cost about £3.
