OTOROHANGA NEWS.
ITEMS OF INTEREST. Resident Representative.) Wedding". A marriage of interest to Otorohanga took place last Thursday at Kopu, when Mr F. W. Maisey. son of Mr and Mrs W. Maisey, of Hamilton, was united in the bonds of matrimonv to Miss Ethel Morrissey, sixth daughter of Mr and Mrs J. Morrissey, of Kopu, but erstwhile residents of Otorohanga. Miss Rose McLean (Thames) niece of the bridel was chief maid, the other attendants being Misses Rita Watkins (Otorohanga). and Esther Bankier Auckland. Then there were three little flower girls (also nieces of the bride), Misses June Watkins, Kathleen and Audrea Peterson. The bride's travelling dress was of white satin with touches of lavender and trimmed with pearl and silver be'ads. She also wore a veil surmounted by a coronet of orange Mossoma. The brideVsmaldW dresses were: Miss R. McLean, apricot taffeta with hat to match; Misses Rita Watkins and Esther Bankier. pale blue satin mousellaine trimmed with pale pink crepe de chene. They all carried bouquets and wore gold brooches, the gifts of the bridegroom. The litle flower girls formed a pretty bevy, their dresses being pale blue satin mousellaine trimmed with pale crepe de chene and little Dutch caps to match. The happy couple were the recipients of numerous .costly wedding presents as well as cheques. The wedding breakfast took place in the supper room of the Kopu hall, which was beautifully decorated, some 60 guests being present. The young couple left in the evening en route to the South Island, where the honeymoon is to be spent.
Messrs D. W. Dunlop, advisory inspector of the Auckland Board of Education, and T. U. Wells, M.A, a member of the Board, arrived in Otorohanga on Tuesday evening and spent yesterday visiting the outlying schools at Otewa, Waitomo Valley, Te Rau Mauku and Kio Kio in connection with the consolidated school scheme. It is thought that Pio Pio will be the centre decided upon at which to launch the scheme, as practically all the parents there are unanimously in favour of it, whilst here in Otorohanga the same cannot be said. At any rate, the deciding factor will be the cost of transport. At the recent examinations held in connection with the Royal College of Music and the Trinity Collect of Music the following pupils of Miss McCettigan were successful: Royal College of Music, Zita Mexted, lower division; Valerie Royland, elementary division; James Eveleigh, elementary division; and Rowland Harris, primary division. Trinity College", of Music, Phyllis Rhodes, senior, honours; Eva James, junior; Armstrong Liddy, junior; Norman Armstrong, junior; and Hilary Rhodes, first steps. The small Austin grader, ordered by the Otorohanga County Council, was received here yesterday. The machine looks a likely one to be of great utility for grading and also clearing water tables on some of our unmetalled district roads. The monthly meeting of the Otorohanga County Council is to be held on Tuesday next, 30th inst. Some heavy machinery arrived here yesterday which is to be used in connection with a new industry to be started in Otorohanga at an early date, particulars of which will be ani nounced in due course.
