FIRE AT BLENHEIM.
FARMERS’ CO-OPERATIVE STORE BLENHEIM. Friday. A fire at the Farmers’ Co-operative building last night caused considerable damage. An employee was effecting repairs to a big motor truck in the garage, in the rear of the premises, when the benzine became ignited and the building was soon wrapped in flames. The fire spread to the grocery bulk store and hardware and oil store. The brigade was hampered by a. breakdown of the borough water service, which had not yet been completed. All three departments were completely gutted, and the loss, including the motor truck, is estimated at between £2OOO and £3OOO. The insurances are £I4OO on the stock ami £3OO on the buildings, which were in the Farmers Co-operative Insurance Association.
