PEDIGREE CATTLE SALE. N.Z. Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., Hamilton, report:—At the anual sale of pedigree cattle held at Claudelands on 3rd and 4th inst under the auspices of the Waikato Breeders' Association there was a large attendance of buyers, and this sale proved the most successful since its inception. Jerseys created the most interest, and in this section the top price obtained last year was greatly exceeded in several instances. Strong butterfat backing was required to elicit competition from those in search of bulls, and entries from breeders who were unable to show this qualilcation received little attention in the sale ring. Mr F. J. Saxby again obtained the top price of the sale for a Jersey bull by his herd sire Waipiko Masterpiece, which realised 200gns., sold by the Farmers' Auctioneering Co., and we secured the second highest figure for a bull from the same breeder, viz., 155gns. The demand for Friesians was only moderate, but Shorthorns were somewhat more in favour than formerly. We append a list of principal sales of our portion of" the catalogue.
