CHAMBER OF COMMENCE.
MEETING OF EXECUTIVE. The ordinary monthly meeting of the Te Awamutn Cliamber of Conimerce was held on Tuesday evening last, the president (Mr S. Clark) presiding. Also present were Messrs C. G. Downes. D. McArthur. G. 0. Jourdain, W. J. Petche'.l, D. Bockett, R. A. Coyne, W. R. Hayes, T. Spear and the secretary (Mr A. G. Warhurton). The secretary. Chambers of Commerce Association, notified that the annual conference would be held in Auckland on .November 21st and 22nd. and inviting delegates to attend. Following upon a remark about thp apathy of the Te Awamutu-Arapuni Development League the secretary stated that a meeting of the executive had been convened a few days ago, but had lapsed for want of a quorum, only three members beingpresent. The League's secretary (Mr I. G. Wynyard) was unavoidably absent, but the other absentees had not, he understood, troubled to attend. None of the country members of the executive had attended. One member tersely remarked that the League seemed to have "gone west "
Mr Warburton said that the executive had for some time past been hammering at the Postal Department in an effort to secure improved mail services between Te Awamutu and Aranuni, and the districts en route. Little success had resulted, but there was a prospect of soon securing a daily service such as the settlers desired. However* he was not hopeful that the League could justify its existence. Another member remarked that the local Chamber of Commerce was working harder and obtaining better results than the Leqgu Q
