ALLOCATION OF GRANTS.

MANGAPIKO RIDING WANTS FRESH ALLOCATION. Cr Macky pointed out at Monday's meeting of the Waipa County Council that his riding (Mangapiko) had not had absolutely fair treatment of late in the matter of expenditure of subsidies or loan moneys. He suggested that £6OO of grants that could not be expended this year in the Newcastle Riding should be transferred to the Mangapiko riding, Newcastle riding to have priority next year up to this amount. Cr Peaccoke said this seemed fair, provided the Minister for Public Works is agreeable to this transfer. Cr Macky then moved that the Public Works Department be asked to agree to the transfer of £6OO of the £I2OO granted for the Te Rapa-Te Kowhai road, on the conditions above stated. This was agreed to, Cr Alexander mentioning that the chairman would be called upon to allocate as evenly as possible the amount of loan grants and subsidies received by the county among each of the ridings. Cr Macky said Newcastle riding had received more than its fair allocation, and could not expend it all this year. Kakepuku was in a similar position.
