SUDDEN DEATH.

DUE TO HEART FAILURE. (By Telegraph. Press Association.) HAMILTON, Wednesday. An inquest into the circumstances surrounding the death of John Strong, farmer, Te Palm, who died suddenly in his bed on August 21, was held before Mr H. A. Young, coroner, to-day. Marguerite Nora Strong said that her late husband had been complaining of indigestion and heart burning, and had taken carbonate of soda as a means of relief. Deceased was in his usual state of health the day prior ’o his death. During the night he had risen from his bed as he often did to go out to the kitchen to get a drink of carbonate of soda. At about 2.15 a.m. deceased simply gave a gurgling noise, and in less than a minute he was dead. Dr Waddell, who had conducted a post mortem, gave evidence ot deceased’s heart being enlarged, and the walls thin. In his opinion death was due to heart failure arising from weakness of the muscular wall of the heart. The coroner’s verdict was in accordance with the medical testimony.
