SCHOOL SPORTS.
GATHERING AT PATERANGI. The annual sports and picnic tof the Paterangi school were held in Mr F. J. B. Ryburn’s paddock at “ The Oaks ” on Friday. Although the weather conditions were not of the best there was a large crowd of both parents and children. A strong committee of ladies lmd charge of the refreshments, the catering being on a lavish scale. In the evening a dance was held in the hall, when there was another large attendance. The music was supplied by Mesdames W. and S. C. Macky. Following are the results of Die sports:— Standard 6 girls race: .J.Strawbridge 1. D. Jones 2. E. Bell 3. Seven started.

1, S. Germann 2. Two-chain stepping competition for men: W. Scott (43 yards 111 inches) 1. .Strawbridge and Spiers (tie. 43 yards 7A inches and 44 yards 4A inches) Messrs W. Macky and F. Ryburn acted as hamlicappers and starters, and Messrs Spiers and Hollister as judges.
