AUCKLAND WOOL SALES.
RANGE OF PRICES. Messrs Dalgety and Company report that the third wool sale of the season was held in Auckland on Saturday. The total number of bales offered was 7573. There was a fair bench of buyers, representing Bradford, the Continent, Japan, wool scourers ,and wool speculators. Keenest competition was from the Continental buyers, who secured a large percentage of the offering. There was lack of competition from American buyers and New Zealand woollen mills. About 80 per cent of the offerings were sold at auction. As is usual, at this sale clips were not so attractive, comprising a fair proportion of back country inferior wools.
As compared with the. February sale the prices for superior wools were easier, but in many cases strong wools sold at an advance on the prices realised at the last sale. The same remarks apply to lambs, bellies, and pieces. The following is a range of prices:— Super halfbred l6Jd to 173 d, average halfbred 15Ad, inferior halfbred 12Jd to 19lcl Fine crossbred: Super 14d, average IOJd to 12d, inferior 9d to lOd.
