WELLINGTON DEFEATED. (By Telegraph. Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. Hawke’s Bay for the first time won the Ranfurly phield by beating Wellington by 1 ipoints to 9. The latter side was minus half (its usual players, and gave a shocking display.' It was impossible to recognise the team as the men who played so finely all through last season. The visitors were actively on the offensive, and played remarkably good footlball, some of their tries being brilliant.
