SUPERFINE CREAM.

POSITION IN REGARD TO BONUS,

It is desirable, in order to remove misapprehension, that there should be some amplification of 'Mr Sinclair's remarks as reported in our Saturday's issue. The assistant general manager of the New Zealand Dairy Company then stated that the directors had decided to stop paying the bonus tor superfine cream. That is correct, but there should be added to it the important proviso that this will only remain in operation till Ist August, ,on which date, a month earlier than usual, the New Zealand Co-operative Dairy Company x will re-commence ipaying tihle usual N superfine premium of one halfpenny per lb over first-grade cream; The position at present, Mr J. T. Young, the local director of the company, is that superfine payments are made only on butter-fat supplied from Ist September to 31st March, and the Pukeatua suppliers passed a resolution asking the directorate to continue these payments till later in the season. This matter was thoroughly discussed at the directors* meeting, the result being that it was decided to start the season a month earlier and make superfine payments as from Ist August. The factory superintendent reported adversely upon extending super-fat payments into the late autumn on account of cartage services starting to run on alternate days, which service in a normal season is inaugurated some time in April.
