EXTENDED CREDITS.
BIUTISH GOYKKIUN'T TO HELP.
CONCESSION TO EMPIRE TRADE
/Those in commerce in this country who have been hampered in their operations by restrictions in credit will be interested in a new scheme to assist British trade, the basis of which is the promise of assistance from the British Government in granting extended credit. This information came to hand in a letter from the secretary of the British Industries Fair, which letter has been issued from the Department of Overseas Trade. The memorandum reads as follows: " You will doubtless have heard of the recent developments in the scheme initiated by the British Government for granting extended credits to buyers from abroad who are anxious to make purchases in this country. Put as briefly asl possible, the scheme is that in cases where a foreign buyer and a British manufacturer are unable to do business owing to the buyer desiring a longer credit than the manufacturer can grant, the British Government will asstist by granting the credit. The importance of the plan to trade buyers needs no explanation to a business man, and the extent to which it will be of assistance to you in connection with the British Industries Fair is a matter which you yourself will readily be able to appreciate. Any further information you may require on the subject of the working of exports credit scheme will be gladly furnished by the nearest British Consul or Trade Commissioner.
" As you are aware, the next fair, which isl the eighth of the series, will be held concurrently in London and Birmingham from 27th February to 10th March next. It is now possible to state definitely that the remarkable development which has marked its progress each year since its inception in 1915 will again be mahtained in 1922. At the time of writing the stands which have been taken by exhibitorsl, if placed side by side, would extend over five miles. The building in which the fair is held, however, is so enormous that the whole fair in London or Birmingham is under one roof. Notwithstanding the number of exhibitors, the varioust rades are so carefully grouped that you will find the competing manufacturers in each trade sMe by side. Well over 100 trades are participating in the fair, but so representative are the exhibitors that buyers cannot fail to find their requirements fully catered for.
