FIRE AT HAWERA.
EXTENSIVE DAMAGE DONE. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) \HAWERA, Wednesday. ' Iwo fires occuvied last night in the South Taranaki Building Company’s premises, which were destroyed, causing heavy loss. The fire had a strong 1 hold when discovered, and a high wind was blowing. The brigade did splendid work, and succeeded in preventing the flames spreading to adjoining properties. There was a second outbreak about two hours later at the back premises of Mr Pacey, builder. The brigade were promptly on the scene and effected a fine save, as the building was very old. The South Taranaki Building Company is insured for £2,000 in the Standard, and the loss is estimated at £SOOO. Mr Pacey is insured for £4OO on the building and £2OO on the stock in the Liverpool, London, and Globe, and £3OO on the stock in the Royal. His damage is about £3OO.
