THE HONEY INDUSTRY.

WAIPA BEE CLUB.

AN OPTIMISTIC MEETING

The Waipa Bee Club held an ordinary meeting at the Farmers’ Institute on Tuesday. There were present: Messrs C. Smedley (chairman), E. D. Williams. A. Quinnell, M. H. Otway, E. L. Jones, T. G. Bishop, ond H. C. Jones (secretary).

i The policy 'of the club was thoraughly discussed, and co-operation with Hamilton or any other branch was endorsed, channels for doing so being looked forward to in the near future. Mr Quinnell moved that the meeting thinks it advisable to retain the club's present status. —This was seconded by Mr Williams, and carried unanimously.

Mr Quinnell moved that the secretary be instructed to arrange a date for"Mr Bartlett-Miller to give his conference report. This was seconded by Mr Williams and carried unanimously.

The secretary laid the subject of amalgamation with the union of all classe sof' the farming community before the meeting, and it was deemed advisable to ihvite 'an organiser in this matter to address the members of the club in conjunction with the meeting arranged to hear the conference report.

The meeting heartily endorsed the hope, despite any little difference of Opinion, that Mr Smedley would retain the position of vice-president of the club, and it gave great satisfaction to members to learn that he intended to on all occasions help the club to the best of his ability. The question of field days was enthusiastically discussed, and it was finally decided ,on the motion of Mr E. L. Jones,-to limit these days to three. Mr Otway and two others to be selected were appointed a committee for arranging the days.

An important point discussed was the subject of local inspection. The secretary explained that every member of the club was in reality a local inspector, and that the onus therefore was not shifted on to any one particular member.—Mr Smedley proposed that a few days be arranged for the inspector to visik s the neighbourhood. so that they might all know when he was coming and help him accordingly.—This motion was fully supported, and the secretary was instructed to write to the district inspector and obtain all information to be had. * •

Discussion centred round Mr Rvland’s letter, and it was decided to ask him to forward 25 price lists, of appliances for distribution, and also to make inquiries re tins and cases :n quantity for next season’s output.
