WELFARE COMMITTEES.

NEEDS OF HOSPITAL DISTRICTS.

At the Waikato Hospital Board’s meeting on Thursday' Mr W. Hill (of Rotorua) gave notice of motion as follows: “That this Board approves the principle of establishing a social welfare committee in any centre of population within a hospital district.” The suggested primary duties of such a committee will be (1) To investigate all local applications for outdoor relief; (2) to periodically review existing grants; (3) to investigate applications for reduction and remission- of 'hospital fees; (4) to make recommendations to local representatives on hospital boards accordingly)

The Board hvil] give consideration to the matter at its next meeting.
