FOOTBALL.
A MAORI UNION.
(By Telegraph—?rer's Association.)
WELLINGTON, This Day.
A movement is in progress to form a New Zealand Maori Rugby Union, and proposals wild be submitted to the-New Zealand Rugby Union. Th 6 idea is to create competition exclusively for natives. A shield is already donated for a competition open to any Maori team. As an alternative to the New Zealand Rugby Union governing the competition it is suggested that < the Maori Union should take charge.
The movement originated in the Rangitilcei and Wanganui districts, and the office-bearers suggested are all from that locality, with Mr Rangi Marumaru, of Rata, as president.
