BOARD TO CONTRIBUTE £2OO.

The matter of the retention of a medical officer at Kawhia was again discussed by the Waikato Hospital Board on Thursday. Mr Dent, the representative of the Kawhia district, strenuously supported the necessity of a doctor being stationed in the area, and asked the Board to contribute £2OO toward the annual salary of the doctor. This was supported by several other members of the Board, which finally agreed that the doctor's services I be retained at a salary of £6OO. While the salary remains up to the figure mentioned the Board will contribute £2OO.

The new arrangement is to take effect from Ist September.
