SATURDAY'S GAMES.
TE AWAMUTU V. KAKEPUKU
Kakepuku played a plucky game against their formidable opponents, but nevertheless the encounter was abnormally one-sided and almost reduced itself to an ideal practice game for the Te Awamutu team. The Kakepuku forwards acquitted themselves -very creditably, but the Te Awamutu backs gave a brilliant exhibition, and moved like clockwork. R. Mexted. and Sullivan were notable. C. Mexted scored about seven" or eight of the tries, and t)he points were piled on so fast that it was difficult to keep account. Mexted's first try was obtained about a minute after the start, and he repeated the performance twice in five minutes. The (final score Was: Te Awamutu ..., 51 Kakepuku '. 0 i It is a point worth note that the Te Awamutu team has not yet had its line crossed this season. There is a chance of its getting through the round—(touching wood for safety)— in this maiden condition, as next Saturday's match ends the round. It is up to their opponents (Pirongia), then, to spoil the little scheme if they can.
