M r Armstrong, speaking as one who had moved for Sunday bowling'last season, said that from his observations he was of opinion that'the lovement had been a mistake and if Sunday bowling 'was continued he felt it would be detrimental to the club, and would tend to a reduction of membership .and public interest in the club.. • Mr Henry said.he was against the matter being brought up without notice of motion.

Mr Lord said the matter must be settled at once as the result would probably affect the election of officers. Mr. Henry continued to remonstrate and pleaded for freedom of conscience on the matter. *■* i

Mr 'Chilcott spoke against the abolition of Sunday bowling. x • s Mr Corbett, whilst recognising the independence of the individual in* regard to Sunday observance, said that a club was in a different position. They had to treat the matter as a club, -or body of men. The president thanked Mr Corbett for putting the matter as he Ijad. The matter was one to be considered from the club's financial point of view and the members had to decide whether Sunday* bowling was to the benefit of the club or othewise. i, :

The question was put to the ballot with the result that the voting was: playing 5; against 8. Thi> motion was declared carried. ,'

Election of Officers. The election of officers was the next on the agenda paper. . % Mr Benner whilst thanking members for the support he had received as president said that whether** tliey had intended to propose him or not, he regretted he could not see his way to accept the position.
