A locally-grown kumara, weighing 31b. 60z., is at present on exhibition in Levin (reports the Manawatu Dail> Times) There has been a suostantial drop in the price of cemer.t in Wellington. The price recently quoted was £9 13/6 per ton, but about the end of last week it fell to £7 19/. The Labour Department obtained a quantity at £8 per ton, this price including a certain amount of cartage. Supplies of cement are stated to be fairly plentiful »t present.
