CLOSING THE TENNIS SEASON.
The committee of the Te Awamutu Tennis Club met on Tuesday evening at the office of the president, Mr E. J. Taylor, and' dealt with several matters of interest to tennis devotees, . With regard to the new courts desired for next season, it had been intended to lay down three grass courts on the Domain for next season, but owing to inability to arrange finance the meeting decided to ask the annual meeting, to be held about the 3rd week in May, to discuss the question of what to do for next season.
A letter from Hamilton asked the club to send delegates to a conference of the Waikato Lawn Tennis Association to be held last evening (Wednesday). The meeting arranged for the secretary, Mr Fleming, to attend in order to find out what advantage the club would gain by joining the Waikato Association, as it is already affiliated to the Auckland association. Mr Fleming will report to the annual meeting.
Respecting trophies for the present competitions, it was left to the president to make a selection and report to the committee’s next meeting to be held just prior to the annual meeting. The club now has a membership of nearly eighty. It was decided to ask a second grade team to play Te Rahu next Saturday at Te Awamutu, and also a first grade team to play a return match at Kihikihi against uhat club on same day.
