MEETING OE MEMBERS.

COMING TOURNAMENTS

A meeting of members of the Te Awamutu Croquet Club was held in the pavilion at Victoria Park on Wednesday, when the president (Mrs L. Peake) presided over a good attendance.

A letter was read from the Te Awamutu Municipal Band asking for the club’s co-operation on the occasion of a sports meeting on 17th March, and suggesting that a croquet competition be held.—After discussion it was decided to accede to*the request by holding various competitions on the lawn, all members and friends of the club to be asked to take part.

In reference to the club’s annual social fixture, it was decided to this year adopt the form of a “ hard up ” social, to be held on 2nd March. Detailed arrangements in this connection were considered, and a committee elected to conclude details. Suitable prizes for the occasion were duly allotted.

The Frankton Croquet Club extended an invitation in connection with a tournament, but as the date was not a convenient one it was impossible to accept the invitation. ■ Dealing with club tournaments, preliminary arrangements were made for a first-year players’ match, for which a trophy has been donated by Mrs Wm. Taylor. Consideration was also given to a championship match, for which Mrs Peake has given a trophy. At the close of the meeting afternoon tea was dispensed, and play was resumed, a very pleasant time being spent by all.
