CONCERT AT WAIKERIA.

BY METHODIST CHURCH CHOIR, AN ENJOYABLE EVENING. Under the auspices of the Te Awamutu Methodist Church choir, with Mr W. G. Aked as musical director an enjoyable evening was spent at the Waikeria Reformatory .- last evening, when a well arranged and varied programme of vocal and instrumental items was presented which, evidenced by the spontaneous applause, was highly appreciated by the men. The Rev. S. Henderson proved a capable chairman, his humorous remarks keeping the company in good spirits throughout the evening. The programme was as follows: —Anthem “Onward,” the chair; Solo, “The String of Pearls,” Miss Raine (encore, “The Sunshine of Your Smile”); anthem, “The Lord is My Shepherd,” the choir; solo, “One Touch of Nature Makes the Whole World Vim,” Mrs. Rushton, who gave as an encore “The Fisherman and His Child”; solos, ‘-‘The Admiral’s Broom,” “Lucky Jim,” Mr Way, who also amused the company by a miscellaneous selection of yarns and monologues which highly amused everyone. Solo, “The Patchwork Quilt,” Mrs R. Henderson who as a recall gave “A Little Bit of Heaven,” anthem, “Across the Bar.” (Corney), the choir; solos, “Tell Her I Love Her So,” and as a recall “Over the Dreamland Sea,” Mrs Metcalfe; . humorous reading The Parsons Horse,” Mrs. R. Henderson; solos, “My Old Shako,” and “When Father Laid the Carpet on the Stairs” Mr Way, followed by a series of humorous stories which created roars of laughter. This was followed by the whole company singing “Blowing Bubbles” -led by the concert party. Miss Henderson acted as accompanist and her services as such together with those of the party were highly appreciated as voiced by one of the audience who especially thanked all for providing such a pleasant entertainment. The hearty singing of the National Anthem 'brought an enjoyable evening to a close.
