As the outcome of a recent deputation to the Minister of Lands it is now stated that 15,000 acres of Crown land near Ongarue will be thrown open for settlement within a month’s time. Other Crown land in that district is being surveyed, and the prospects of considerable settlement there are encouraging. There are golfing memories possessed by a well-known Te Ivuiti player who comes to Te Awamutu often to play. This man has had the honour of doing the ninth hole on the Te Awamutu links in one stroke; he does not know how he did it; and incidentally he does not wish to do it again!
