A ROUGH PASSAGE.

UNPLEASANT EXPERIENCES

(By Telegraph.— Press Association.)

WELLINGTON, Monday,

Passengers who arrived by the Ptftoana from San Francisco stated that during the last few days of the voyage they went through unpleasant experiences owing to the vessel developing an ugly list. While in exceptionally heavy weather the Moana ran into a south-westerly gale with high seas, which necessitated the engines being slowed down for several hours. The ship’s list rendered it a difficult matter to walk about, and the slope of the decks was aggravated by the vessel rolling. 'Phe cause of the list, which was to port, was the shifting of some cargo, and to fresh water in the tanks in the bottom of the ship running to leeward and remaining there.
