Auctioneering Co., Ltd., announce the following market report for the last week : Beef. —Beef is in moderate supply but competition everywhere exceedingly dull. The recent Home advices have had a very unsettling effect on the arkets generally, but although it may be difficult to foretell the value of beef six months hence, there seems no reason to anticipate other than a firm arket during the winter and early spring. The freezing works are expected to resue operations within a week or so, when it is hoped that everything now ready will be absorbed. Mutton. —At most of our markets, mutton has been in very fair demand. Turnip Cattle are meeting with poor competition. Turnip crops generally have turned. out much lightei than they gave promise of in the early stages. Stock owners, however, seem to realise the situation, and are for the greater part disposed to sell. Store Cattle.—There is no improveent to report in this section, the tendency being in the opposite direction. Calves, however, still maintain their buoyancy, and satisfactory bus'iness has been transacted. Two-year empty heifers of all breeds are also sought after. Store Sheep.—There is not much alteration in this section to report from the previous week. Here also the tendency is downward, although forward conditioned lines generally find purchasers. Dairy Cattle. —This branch is very much brisker since we last reported and considerable business has been recorded. Wherever clearing sales have been conducted results have been most satisfactory. Pigs.—The yardings have been fairly heavy, but no improvement can be recorded.
