GALE AT MASTERTON. OUTBUILDINGS DAMAGED. (By Telegraph—Press Association) MASTERTON, This Day. Masterton was visited last night by a gale of exceptional violence, the wind reaching the force of a hurricane at times. Considerable damage was done to outbuildings, fences, and chimneys. Big trees were uprooted. The gale is still raging. FLIGHT TO MOUNT COOK., CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. Captain Dickens’ flight, to Mount Cook Hermitage has commenced, but is not completed on account of a heavy gale and snow commencing to fall.
