SHOCKING FATALITY

AT WAIHI FIRE.

(By Telegraph. Press Association.) WAIHI, Monday.

A shocking-fatality occurred in Upper Barry Road, Waihi East, on Saturday night, when the residence of Mr Thomas Barker was destroyed by fire during the temporary absence of Mr Barker and his wife. Their youngest daughter Iris, a child three years of age, was entrapped in a bedroom and burned to death.

Three other children, James (aged 12, Jack (8), and Clarence (6), escaped through a window, clothed in their night attire. ■
