CREW OF MAORI TAKES ACTION.
MEN REFUSE TO SAIL IF RACEHORSES ARE CARRIED.
CHRISTCHURCH, This Day,
The latest development in connection with, the jockeys' dispute took place at Lyttelton, when the crew of the ferry steamer Maori notified the Union Steam Ship Co. that the members of the crew would not sail if racehorses were shipped. 'This action was taken apart from the Seamen's Union, and also applies to all coastal vessels running between the North and South Islands.
Shipowners have been informed accordingly. The waterside workers also intimated that they would refuse to load racehorses in face" of the action taken by the seamen.
Six horses were at Lyttelton for shipment by the Maori, but were sent back to Riccarton, the Union Co. .refusing to take the responsibility of endeavouring to load them.
