THE COUNTY ELECTION.

The election for the vacant Otorohanga seat on t the Waitomo County Council took place on Saturday. The contestants were Messrs Murphy, Scholes, and Lurman, and the result was a win for Mr Murphy, who polled 115 votes to Mr Scholes’ 74 arid Mr Luraian’s 25. It was a small voting, only 217 out of a possible 600 ratepayers recording their votes. The voting at the several booths was as follows:—
