CHRISTMAS AT THE SHOPS.

The time honoured custom of exchanging presents at this festive season is already evidencing itself and presentation goods are in strong demand. Local shopkeepers, in anticipation of the requirements of the shoppers of the district, have large stocks which are calculated to provide for every requirement. A glance through the shops of our advertisers gives proof of the preparation made. The prices of the goods are well within reasonable •bounds, and by comparison with other centres, compare more than favourably. Having regard to these two facts—the assortment offering and the reasonableness of the prices—the most fastidious shopper should find little reason to divert his trade into other towns. From now on till Thursday evening the local shopkeepers should have a busy time which is due to them as a slight recompense for the preparation they have made.
