During the Christmas and New Year holidays an alteration will take place in the running of the usual 7.15 a.m. train Taumarunui to Frankton, and an advertise--ment to this effect appears elsewhere in this issue. Mr W. H. D. Bell, son of the Hon. H. D. Bell, and late member for Wellington Suburbs, has left for Vancouver, en route to England to join King Edward's Horse. He held a commission in that corps when studying law in London a few years ago. A genuine unreserved sale of gifts will be held in the Town Hall at 8 o'clock on Wednesday evening, December l6th. The gifts comprise a large assortment of pot plants, vegetables, chaff, poultry, lambs, Christmas < hams, etc., and a quantity of plain and useful articles made by the Methodist Ladies' Guild. Proceeds are in aid of the new Methodist Church, but the trustees have decided to donate 20 per cent of the profits to the Belgian Relief Fund. Mr Lawson has kindly agreed to conduct the sale free of commission. Goods will be on view during the day.
