Mr J. Scholes, Liberal candidate for Waikato has addressed several meetings of electors this . week. At Pirongia on Tuesday (writes our correspondent) he was accorded a very attentive hearing by a fairly large audience, who accorded him a hearty vote of thanks at the conclusion of his address. Several questions were asked at the conclusion of the address. The regular monthly meeting of the Te Awamutu Branch of the Farmers' Union to have taken place last Wednesday lapsed on account of the non-attendance of members. As a matter of fact only two persons were present—the keeper of the hall and the press reporter. Possibly this may be taken as an indication that all is well with the farmer who can have no pressing grievances that call for concerted action.
