PREMIER PICTURES.

Quite the Best moving picture programme screened at Te Awa* mutu was that shown at the Town Hall on Tuesday evening. From start to finish it comprised an excellent selection of films, embracing pictures of much general interest. The attendance was rather disappointing, and the general excellence of the programme justified a much larger number of patrons. Of particular inter-est at the present time was the flight over France in a French Hydroplane. This was the first picture yet taken in a flight, and the fact that the scenes portrayed are at present prominently before the public made it of special interest. Rising from Havre, on the English Channel, the flight proceeded along the courses of the River Seine, and the descent was made within 12 miles of Paris. The country along the Seine, which has been the recent scene of fighting, was very clearly shown, and from an educational standpoint the picture was a valuable one. Winter scenes in Stockholm was also an interesting and instructive series. The star drama “ Caprice ” was well up to expectations, and in her difficult role, introducing such a variety of movements, Miss Pickford was a great success. This drama was very interesting and much appreciated. The comics were a good and laughable selection, and the programme throughout was well screened, and met with ready appreciation.

On Tuesday next at the Town Hall the leading feature will be the Vitagraph play “The Wreck,” in which a sensational plot ends in the wrecking of two railway trains. Pathe’s latest English Gazette will portray happenings at the other side of the world. Montana State Fair will show the general characteristics of one of the most progressive States of America. The comics are also stated to be a good lot, whilst other dramas are very highly speken of. Full particulars of next Tuesday’s programme are advertised.
