Dalgety and Company, Ltd., report having held their first horse fair in the Te Aroha yards on 27th ult., when they had a fair yarding and a successful sale. There was a fair attendance of buyers, and, although bidding was not very brisk at times, most of the horses changed hands. Unbroken light horses £3 5s to £B, ditto heavier £l3 10s to £24, good heavy draughts (broken) up to £3O, half draughts to £26, lighter sorts £l3 to £l9 10s, good hacks to £2O los, squibs £2 10s to £6. On the 28th ult. the same firm report having held their usual monthly stock sale in the Te Aroha yards, where they had a fair entry of cattle. Bidding was dull under the hammer, but all lines changed hands privately at late rates. Empty 2-year heifers made £3 2s to £3 14s, yearling heifers 30s to £2 2s 6d, young steers £2 4s to £3 193, fat cows to £7 ss, fat heifers to £6 2s, dairy cows £7, dairy heifers £5 to £7 15?.

We held our monthly Cambridge stock sale on Monday last, when we submitted 153 fat steers and cows, 346 mixed stores, 178 dairy cows and heifers, and also sheep and pigs. The beef was mainly prime quality, and sold at advanced rates. Fat steers made £8 5s to £ll 15s, prime fat cows £8 13s to £lO 2s, good cows £7 7s to £8 ss, medium £6 4s to £6 15s, killable cows £5 Ils to £5 18s, cows in fresh condition £4 7s 6d to £5 is, store cows £3 5s to £4, steers £4 13s, mixed yearlings £l 18s to £2 14s, 18-month to 2-year heifers £3 6s to £4, hoggets 15s 5d to 19s, weaner pigs 14s to £l, slips £l 2s 6d to £1 Bs, porkers £1 ils to £2 2s, 3-year springing heifers close to profit £7 to £9, others more backward £5 10s to £6 ss, dairy cows £5 15s to £9 ss.
