PRACTICAL HOUSE FROCK.
A dress that possesses all the qualities necessary for house wear and yet which may be worn equally well in the street, is shown in the “Flavia,” illustrated. This should appeal to the home dressmaker because of its simplicity in design. No lining is needed, providing a sufficiently substantial fabric is chosen. The bodice is youthful and most comfortable, with its V-shap-ed neck and low collar. There are two tucks on the shoulders, and, these terminate at yoke depth in front while extending to waist, at the back. The skirt is quite plain, save for the line
of buttons, which provides a smart trimming. It has five gores, and measures 2yds. at the hem. Among the materials suitable for this frock may be mentioned serge, zibeline cloth, voile, and linen. The “Flavia” would be charming in steel blue zibeline cloth with collar and cuffs of white silk, or in chestnut linen trimmed with white. An attractive effect could be obtained by embroidering collar and cuffs with colored silk to match the material of the frock. For medium size allow 4 3/4 yards of 36 in. fabric, or 4yds. of 42in.
