Williams.' • ■ *;., ■' On Saturday .last the annual meeting of the Waipa vßacipg Club tdok place at .the Te.. Awaml}tu' racecourse, " Gree'n Hill." The wedther conditions ideal,i.|an,d the attendance was mos't satisfactory, in spite, of- the. fact that-it' was! not the usual half-holiday."'"" The surrounding districts were .well represented, visitors' 'being present fromHamilton, Cambridge, Te Kuiti, and jP.tprohanga. The arrange-. ■'merits in 1 ""Connection with the meeting were well carried out by the secretary, Mr W. G. Abbott, and he was ably assisted by the various officials Of the club. The course was in splendid order and the going good. Nothing occurred during the afternoon to mar the enjoyment of the meeting. The Te Awamutu Town Band, under Bandmaster Newsome, was in attendance, and enlivened the proceedings with several excellent selections. • Following are the results:— HUNTERS' HURDLES. Mr R. Hannon'sbr m Curearua aged 11.5 (A.McFlynn)... I Mr F. Morton's b g Tangitua, aged io.o(Tonge) 2 Mr W. Thompson's ch g Blarney Stone aged 10.5 (McMillan) ... 3 Also started—Killarn. After some little delay at the post, the quartette got away, and jumped the first hurdle together. Passing the judge the first time the order was Curearua, Killarn, Tangitua, Blarney Stone. Curearua increased her lead and Tangitua raced into second place, but failed to catch the leader, who won by two lengths. OHAUPO HANDICAP. Mr R. Hannon's ch g Irish Linen, syrs 9.6 (Robinson) I Mr Jos. Graham's br g El Gallo, syrs 9-5 (McFlvnn) 2 Mr J. Sheeby's St. Helena 10.7 3 Also started Glideawaj, Te Mata, Kawau, Patrica. Irish Linen was first away, and was never headed, and won easily by 3 lengths. MAIDEN TROT. Mrs M. Richards'blkhPrince Akwood, 3yrs, Bsec. ... I Mr E. McCabe's ch m Doris Salisbury, syrs, 6sec. ... 2 Mr A. J. McGovern's ch g Kawhata, 4yrs, 9sec. ... 3 Also started—Myrtle G., Salon Dillon, Armena, Mona Salisbury, Dido, Lancelot, Roseate, Ngapuhi, Master Salisbury, Miss Tui. Prince Akwood was soon in the lead, and trotting well, won easily by about 4 lengths from Doris Salisbury, the,rest of the field being some distance back. TE AWAMUTU CUP. Mr L. M. McMillan's b m Succession, aged, 9.0 (McMillan) I Mr H. Wilson's ch g Poictiers aged, 9.5 (Robinson) ... 2 Mr J. Sheeby's Rosea, 9.0 ... 3 Also started —Lady Dot, Valentine, Otaraia. The start was delayed a few minutes owing to Lady Dot being anxious to get away, but at length the starter got the field despatched to a beautiful start. Succession at once assumed command and led throughout, winning by five lengths, two lengths between second and third. Lady Dot fell, and the jockey, Tonge, escaped with a shaking. HUNTERS' PLATE. MrW. Simpson'sbrg Celebrity aged, 11.1 * Mr A. N. Dingle's b g Union Jack, 4 yrs, n.l * Mr W. Thompson's ch g Blarney Stone, aged, 11.1 3 Also started—Brown Gelding. Union Jack was the first away, closely followed by Celebrity and Blarney Stone. Going along the back Celebrity joined the leader, and the pair raced together into , the straight. The judge was un/ able to separate them, the verdrct being a dead heat. The/tnird Vhorse was some \ HANDICAP TJfcOT. MrN£. Quin's McMr E. McCabe's ch m Doris Salisbury, 5 yrs, 19 sec ... 2 Mr W. Alexander's b m Dido, aged, 20 sec 3 Also started—Ghoam, Myrtle G, Armena, Mona Salisbury. Dido showed the way past the
judge's box the first time, followed by Armena and Doris Salisbury. Teddy McKinney gradually overhauled the leaders, and won by three lengths from Doris Salisbury. GREEN HILL HANDICAP. Mr Jos.
