HOCKEY.
WAIPA v. AUCKLAND.
-On Thursday next a team from, ' Auckland will visit Te Awamutu. A team from the Te Kuiti ladies' hockey club has also signified its intention of making the-trip to Te Awamutu, and will play a', match with the local team. Special preparations have been made by the Waipa Hockey As- , sociation for the entertainment of the visiting teams. A dance is Y to be held in the Town Hall in ■> the evening, *at which the local teams will be represented. The catering ; iis in the hands of a committee of ladies, and everything promises well :> for a pleasant evening. The match between the ladies will be '■:■■'.[. played as a curtain-raiser, and will start at 2 p.m. Tickets for the social are now on sale, and may be. purchased from members of the Association. .
The following players will represent , Waipa : —Goal, Fiua; full-backs, Douglas and Mclftnnon; halves, Duncan, Svlvester and Andrew ; forwards, L. North, 11. A. Fear, L. Davis, K. Johnstone, \ and Gordon. Emergencies:— Goal, Spear; back, Edwards;, halves, Macky, Parker; forwards, C. Forkett and Hurley.
